The new Milan Anti-Counterfeiting Committee (“Consiglio Milanese Anticontraffazione” - CMA) was presented to the press on Sept. 24. The project aims at monitoring the phenomenon of counterfeiting in the municipality of Milan by collecting data with law enforcement agencies and establishing a direct cooperation with the public prosecutor's office, as well as to raise awareness through a series of campaigns targeting schools and the public. The new CMA foresees a partnership with Expo 2015, to declare the universal exposition that Milan will host in 2015 a “counterfeiting-free” event and guarantee the protection of the participants' intellectual property rights all through the event. Milan will also host a general convention on counterfeiting (“Stati Generali”) on Nov. 19.
