The number of golf rounds played in the U.K. in the second quarter of 2017 increased by 4 percent as compared to the same period of 2016, according to a study by Sports Marketing Surveys (SMS). The second quarter of the year was characterized by warm and dry weather, especially in the South and Midlands, and the Midlands was indeed the top performing region in the quarter, with an increase of 7 percent. May was the warmest in the series since 1910, and that allowed for more rounds to be played. Furthermore, April 2017 saw a growth in the average rounds played in every single region, probably due to the Easter break falling in mid-April, which offered additional opportunities to play.
