The Nuremberg District Court has decided in favor of Adidas in a case of alleged patent infringement filed by Nike earlier this year. Without any opportunity for Adidas to state its case, the court had granted a temporary injunction in August ordering Adidas to quit making and selling its Primeknit shoe in Germany, based on allegations that Adidas had infringed a patent on the usage of melting yarn applied by Nike in its Flyknit range. Adidas already announced after a hearing last month that it expected the injunction to be lifted, which was confirmed by the Nuremberg District Court today. Adidas vigorously denied that it had infringed the patent and in fact filed a case at the Federal Patent Court in Munich for its cancellation, arguing that the technology in question had been known for six decades.
