The organizers of Fibo China boasted that the number of visitors increased by 40 percent to about 6,000 for its second edition in Shanghai earlier this month, while the number of exhibitors climbed from 55 to 87. They represented more than 100 brands, with a focus on quality suppliers. The organizers estimate that the Chinese fitness market generates about $1.9 billion with 84,000 employees and that it has the potential to double over the next few years. They found that about 13 million Chinese belong to one of the country's 3,500 gyms, investing an average of $500 to $1,000 per year. Fibo China is a project managed by Reed Exhibitions Deutschland, the organizer of Fibo in Cologne, and their Chinese counterparts from Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions. They worked with EuropeActive, the European industry association, to organize the Fibo China Fitness & Health Summit, which was part of a supporting program: otherwise comprising the Fibo China Fitness Convention for trainers and the national bodybuilding and fitness competition. Next year's Fibo China has been scheduled on Sept. 8-10.
