The Portland Business Journal has reported that Nike Inc. has subpoenaed several top global executives at the Adidas Group, including Eric Liedtke, the executive board member in charge of global brands, and the head of Adidas North America, Mark King. The subpoenas relate to the ongoing battle between Nike and three designers who left the American company and switched to Adidas. Nike claims that the designers walked away with trade secrets, which they have denied. The report on the subpoenas is based on a legal filing that was made public a few days ago. The Portland Business Journal says Nike already subpoenaed several other Adidas executives in December, so that the number now adds up to seven. According to the newspaper, a representative of the defendants in the case said Adidas has agreed to cooperate but will not be a party in this dispute. She was also reported to be asking the court to reject the new subpoenas. If the judge approves the subpoenas, they could require sworn depositions and more documents.
