The Saarbrücker Nachrichten published an unconfirmed report that ZEG, the German-based buying group for bicycle dealers, could purchase the bicycle production unit of Kettler, the German supplier of fitness and garden equipment, which went into self-administered receivership in June. As reported in our previous issue, Kettler said it was working on a restructuring plan that calls for about 200 job losses and is to be finalized with creditors by the end of the year. Kettler said at the time of this update last month that it was studying options for the bicycle unit in Hanweiler, Saarland, and it appeared to be nearing a decision on the matter. The unit reportedly employs 75 people. ZEG could not be reached for comment.
