The sale ski passes at Swedish alpine ski areas increased by almost 6 percent to nearly 1.5 billion Swedish kronor (€155.8m-$178.6m) during the winter 2016/2017 season. The number of ski days also increased and was just over nine million. This is good news for the alpine ski market and the operators of the country's 200-plus alpine ski areas. Before the last season, they had invested a total of 425 million Swedish kronor (€44.2m-$50.6m) in lifts, slopes and snow-making systems. The value of ski passes sold is evidence that the bets have paid off.
