The sports & leisure segment of Uvex Winter Holding, which produces eyewear and helmets under the Uvex and Alpina brands, raised its sales by 6 percent in the financial year ended June 30, reaching a level of €117.2 million, accounting for 29 percent of the group's total turnover. Weak sales of winter products were offset by stronger sales of helmets for cycling and horse riding as well as Filtral eyewear. The safety business, which represents the rest of the group's turnover, grew at a similar rate and reached €276.3 million in spite of difficulties in Russia and Ukraine and negative currency effects in South Africa and Australia.
