The staff of Campagnolo is in turmoil following the management's announcement that the company will soon undergo substantial reorganization. The process will cause the lay-off of 68 employees, mainly in the manufacturing areas, out of the 399 at the company's main facility in Vicenza, in Italy's northeast. It will also involve the relocation of a part of the production to Romania. Campagnolo workers went on strike and marched in Vicenza, on Jan. 27 in protest. The Italian manufacturer of high-end bike components already has a plant in Romania, which was opened in 2005 and a second facility was opened four years ago. However, until now the relocation had not affected Campagnolo's main plant and headquarters in Italy.
