The store network of Intersport Russia underwent significant restructuring in the nine-month period ended last Sept. 30, says Kesko. Sales and profitability remained at a good level for Intersport Finland and Budget Sport, with Intersport's revenues rising by 8.1 percent to €50 million in the quarter, but sales at Intersport Russia fell by 37.9 percent to only €4 million. Along with its department stores and other retail operations, Kesko's home and specialty good division were off by 10.9 percent to €351 million in the quarter, but its operating losses declined by 3.0 percent to €2.2 million. Kesko's total sales declined by 3.1 percent to €2.37 billion in the quarter, and it operating profit was up by 6.3 percent to €83.6 million. The pre-tax profit rose to €81.5 million.
