The Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization advocating for clean water and clean beaches, headquartered in California, has named Jennie Romer as a new legal associate for the organization's Plastic Pollution Initiative. She will lead Surfrider's policy efforts and legal action to reduce plastic pollution at the local, state and national levels. Romer is the founder of the website, and has previously served as an environmental policy consultant for campaigns throughout the U.S. She has led coalitions in support of plastic-bag legislation in the states of California and New York.
