The textile manufacturer Opelontex Company has come up with the first dyeable – by cationic dye – polyurethane elastic fiber for use in swimwear. Lycra Fiber T-909B stands up better to chlorine, stretches softly and shrinks quickly. Mizuno and Descente have already placed orders. Opelontex, a joint operation of DuPont and Toray, is making the new fabric with the cooperation of Invista, which holds the patent for Lycra.
