The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is overseeing the recall of about 800 Uvex Funride ski helmets that were imported into the U.S. by Uvex Sports of Rhode Island and Swix Sports of Massachusetts. The helmets were found to provide insufficient shock absorption and resistance to penetration, increasing the wearer's risk of head injury. No actual injuries have been reported. The helmets come in either XS-M or L-XL adult sizes and were sold between January 2009 and April 2011 in independent retail ski shops and ski rental stores in the U.S. They retailed for $99.
