The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) has set up a new “Aerodynamics and Weight Limitation Working Group” in order to address the issue of UCI (International Cycling Union) weight limitation for road bikes. The new working group has been installed as part of WFSGI's Bicycle Committee. The group met for the first time at last month's Eurobike in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The group intends to elaborate proposals to change the UCI's 3:1 rule that limits the aerodynamics of a road bike. The rule stipulates that every part of a UCI-approved bike must be no more than three times deeper than its wind-facing aspect. The Aerodynamics and Weight Limitation Working Group will soon begin talking with the UCI, which has already responded that it is open to discussion.
