The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) reaffirmed its partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through a memorandum of understanding inked at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne on June 2. Building on the original Code of Conduct signed in 1997, the new agreement was signed by Thomas Bach, president of the IOC, and Frank Dassler, president of the WFSGI. The two parties reaffirmed their shared interest in achieving common goals and the central vision of “building a better world through sport” on the basis of the IOC's Olympic Agenda 2020. Robbert de Kock, the WFSGI's secretary general, said in a statement that the pact confirms interest in the partnership to work together on existing projects, and that the two parties would be exploring other potential joint activities contributing to the sustainable development and the integrity of sport. Dassler hailed the agreement as Olympic recognition for the sporting goods industry, which outfits and supports athletes, teams, national federations, national Olympic committees, organizing committees for the Olympic Games and other sports organizations.
