A new racquet-sports conference is promising a three-day show with some 100 companies and 150 speakers on hand. RacquetX is scheduled to take place on March 24-26 – the middle weekend of the Miami Open – at the Miami Beach Convention Center. It is to cover tennis, pop tennis, squash, pádel, pickleball, badminton, table tennis and so forth.
The organizers are expecting to draw more than 2,000 people and would, in their view, benefit players and fans, real-estate developers, representatives from clubs and parks, university-campus officials and investors.
The idea originates with Robyn Duda, founder and creative director of an eponymous events-planning company, and Marco Giberti, the entrepreneur behind Vesuvio Ventures and the author of two books on business. The actual organizers are Katrina Adams, former chairman and president of the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA); Thomas Shields, founder of the online sports newsletter platform Upswing Sports, which puts out the pickleball website The Dink; and Marcos Del Pilar, former president of U.S. Padel Association (USPA) and co-founder of the Pro Padel League (PPL).
Tickets and media passes are available online.
