The Austrian ski company Atomic is hosting the first Ski Industry Climate Summit, a two-day international conference aimed at bringing together key stakeholders and driving effective change to address the urgent need for climate action. The event, supported by FESI (Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry) and Protect Our Winters (POW), will serve as a platform for collaboration on issues such as common standards, closed-loop systems and materials.

Scheduled for Sept. 13-14, 2023, in Salzburg, Austria, the summit marks a significant milestone as the industry’s key players come together under one roof for the first time. With more than 100 confirmed attendees, including renowned brands such as Rossignol, Head, Salomon, Völkl, Burton, and Nidecker, retailers such as Decathlon, Sport Conrad, and Blue Tomato and organizations such as the European Outdoor Group (EOG) and Snowsports Industry Association (SIA), as well as many others, this event promises to shape the future of sustainable winter sports.

“We are proud to host the first Ski Industry Climate Summit and bring together key stakeholders from across the ski industry,” said Helmut Holzer, Director Anticipation & Advanced Research at Atomic. “This summit represents a watershed moment where key stakeholders can join forces, share ideas and take action together for a more sustainable future. Working together, we can make significant progress toward becoming an industry that is a model for climate action.”

The Summit is an industry gathering that invites all stakeholders who can contribute to answer questions such as:

  • What are common standards we can use to improve our efforts as hard goods manufacturers?
  • How can the ski industry secure less impactful (raw) materials for its products?
  • How can the industry establish a viable circular system for hard goods?
  • How can hardgoods brands and retailers collaborate more efficiently?

The Ski Industry Climate Summit is a unique opportunity for the ski industry to come together, share expertise and effect meaningful change. This conference will lay the groundwork for collaborative action to reduce the industry’s climate impact and protect the environment and climate that winter sports enthusiasts value so much.
