About 30 sports brands with showrooms located in close proximity of the Tribeca de Alcobendas complex – in the Spanish city of Alcobendas, within the autonomous community of Madrid – have decided to organize a group show. Open Showroom Madrid, as they have called it, will be open to retail-industry buyers over the weekend of July 24-27. Buyers will nevertheless have to schedule appointments with individual brands. According to one of the executives behind the initiative, Regatta’s country manager for Spain, Eduardo Eceizabarrena, this will enable retailers to “take full advantage of their trip” to Alcobendas to see the new collections of various brands, while the brands themselves “gain invitational power.” The initiative also serves to counteract the cancellation, over Covid-19, of buyer conventions for spring/summer 2021. Eceizabarrena is not ruling out future editions of Open Showroom Madrid. The participants are: Regatta Great Outdoors (Regatta, Dare2b), Steady Mobbin (Fila, Reebok, ’47, Mitchell&Ness, Nike NFL, Nike Baseball), Javier García (Javivi) (Champion, Kappa, Puma Ditchil, Adidas Padel), Pepe Alonso (Ipanema, Rider Sandals, Grendha, Nike Swim), X-freedom (Under Armour, Columbia, Teva, Havaianas, Arena), José Luis Fernández (Jovis) (Cressi, Tecnifibre), Redipro (KRF, Avento), Pablo Alonso (Sontress), and BDE (Craft, Yonex, Salming, Bliz).
