A new Spanish Sports and Health Show (Feria del Deporte y la Vida Sana) is scheduled for Nov. 19-21 on the C-IFECA fairgrounds in Cádiz, hosting some 40 exhibitors. The organizers highlight a broadening of the industry’s focus since 1990 from elite athletes and professional clubs to the public at large. As evidence they cite a survey conducted by the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) in 2015, according to which 41 percent of Spaniards engaged in sport at least three times per week in 1990, whereas 57 percent did so in 2010. This excludes the 46.2 percent who engage in no weekly sport. Diet has come in for special attention in recent years, the organizers add. The province of Cádiz, meanwhile, seeks to increase the flow of tourists – which government measures against the virus have stemmed over the past two years – by using the show to promote sports tourism.
