In an exclusive interview with Men in Blazers, a soccer-focused media company in North America, UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin said that the UEFA Champions League final could be held in the U.S. in the future as UEFA seeks to capitalize on the sport’s rising popularity in the country. The Champions League final has never been played outside Europe since the tournament’s inception in 1955. The final for the current 2022/23 season will be played in Istanbul. The 2023/24 and 2024/25 finals are scheduled to take place in London and Munich, respectively, “and after that, let’s see,” the UEFA president said. Čeferin, a 55-year-old Slovenian lawyer, was re-elected as UEFA president by acclamation on April 5. He is now serving his third term as head of the continental sport governing body. The U.S. will co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup along with Canada and Mexico.
