Under Armour is in line to raise the number of single-brand stores outside the U.S. from 20 to 80 in the course of this year, including 50 in China. About 12 of the existing stores are directly owned by the American company, which is determined to have a stronger presence outside the U.S. Sales have reached more than $1,500 per square foot at its 1,200-square-foot store in Hong Kong. Company officials told a recent conference sponsored by Goldman Sachs that they want e-commerce to play a stronger role internationally.
