Usports, the new Swedish sports retailer that opened its first megastore in Malmö last month, confirmed the Birsta retail park in Sundsvall, a seaside town halfway up the eastern Swedish coast, as the location for its third store, to cover nearly 4,000 square meters. The company had already announced that the second entity would be in Västerås, a midsized town northwest of Stockholm. Both the second and third stores will open in 2012. With its plans to open 20 units in Sweden, Usports is taking part in a sudden proliferation of large-scale stores in the country, with the Norwegian XXL and the French Décathlon both in the picture. Usports said that its store in Malmö drew 26,500 visitors during its opening weekend.
