Vans has moved its headquarters from Cypress, California to a new building in Costa Mesa, California, 13 miles away. The move was first announced in June 2015. The new building is environmentally-friendly and larger than the previous headquarters. The facility features a solar panel array on the carport, which is said to provide half the building's energy needs, and 38 charging stations for electric vehicles. Vans is also in the process of getting the building LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, a certification for buildings that are resource efficient. Vans' iconic checkerboard is incorporated into the exterior of the building, and a so-called “Employee Achievement Bell” at the entrance of the building will ring every time an achievement is to be announced. The new facility also features a gym, a game room, yoga rooms, and a barbecue pit for the employees. The staff can also work away from their desks thanks to the availability of outdoor wi-fi connection.
