The Vans, the North Face, and Timberland parent VF Corp. disclosed its Dec. 13 discovery of cyber attack breach on its systems in a public filing. The group, which has initiated an incident investigation with experts and been forced to shut down some systems, confirmed that that cyber attack has created some unspecified disruptions to operations. The disruptions have impacted VF’s ability to smoothly serve its retail and branded e-commerce customers as well as wholesale customers by fulfilling orders. However, retail stores around the world remain open, and VF says customers can place e-commerce orders but should expect disruptions in fulfillment.
Besides encrypting some VF systems, the cybercriminals also stole data from the company, including personal information. In its brief statement on the matter, the group said the “full scope, nature and impact” of the incident are not yet known.
