Vibram has announced has celebrated its centennial anniversary of manufacturing in the U.S. The milestone celebration, which was open to the public, took place on Sep. 16, at its Quabaug Vibram Innovation (QVI) plant in North Brookfield, in central Massachusetts. The company said 2016 will not only celebrate the past, though, as this year also marks its commitment to a five-year, multi-million dollar campaign with investments in machinery and staff to support innovation. The company will be upgrading QVI's capabilities and machines, inaugurating a two-year staff educational program and expanding its domestic supply chain. Vibram said it has invested $6 million for new machinery and machine upgrades in 2016 alone. The company also plans to make a significant investment in Vibram USA's materials testing and validation center. In addition, it will provide external educational growth programs on project management, in partnership with the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, on material science in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and on innovation management in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
