Wintersteiger reports a record total turnover for 2017 of €154 million and intends to continue its rapid double-digit growth through both partnerships and acquisitions. The machinery and ski service specialist from Ried im Innkreis in Austria increased its annual sales by 10 percent, and its pre-tax profits rose by 30 percent to €7.8 million. The sports business field, which covers ski and snowboard service machines for base and edge grinding and binding adjustment, reported a turnover of €62 million, making it the largest in the group. It was the third successive year of growth and a record for the unit, which also provides services in the planning and development of workshops and rental stations. Since a reorganization in 2015, Wintersteiger has been on a growth climb and the management expects this to continue in 2018. Its chief executive, Florestan von Boxberg, said at the press conference that the company is planning a significant increase in personnel in almost all areas, especially in sales, customer service and technology. Wintersteiger employs around 900 people, of whom 521 are in Austria. Wintersteiger is active in 130 countries worldwide and exports approximately 85 percent of its production.
