With the opening of a store of about 1,500 square meters in Karlsruhe a few days ago, Decathlon has started a program of seven openings in Germany, which should enable it to end the year with 57 stores around the country. The next openings include a store after the summer in Senden, and three others in the winter in Braunschweig, in the city center of Bielefeld and in the center of Dortmund. Two extra stores should be inaugurated in Dresden and in Hamburg-Harburg. The French retailer already accelerated its growth in Germany with openings in 14 cities last year. Decathlon has also been remodeling some of its stores, adding services such as a restaurant and a sports hall in Ploching, and free Wifi and chill-out space in Saarlouis. Another opening is in the works on the Theresienhöhe in Munich for 2019. At the same time, Decathlon is preparing another Decathlon Connect outlet of about 300 square meters at Berlin's central station in the next few months. The concept was started in Germany two years ago and it already has two locations in Munich and Stuttgart.
