World Boxing has added two new members to its executive board, Dinah Glykidis and Marketa Vochoska Haindlova.
Glykidis is the CEO of Boxing Australia. Haindlova is the founder and principal of an international law firm, Marketa Haindlova, specialising in sports law. In parallel to her legal practice, she has extensive executive experience in governance and sports diplomacy and has previously served as chair of the Board of Appeal and Review of the Football Association of the Czech Republic. Since July 2023, Haindlova has been a member of the UEFA Fair Play and Social Responsibility Committee. The new additions bring World Boxing’s executive board to 12 men and women from nine countries across four continents.
World Boxing has also announced that it will hold its inaugural congress at the Mainarcaden Venue in Frankfurt on Nov. 24–25, 2023. The current members of the executive board will all serve on an interim basis until the Congress, when they will have the opportunity to stand for election to the executive board itself, voted-on by the membership of World Boxing. All of the national federations that have joined World Boxing will be eligible to take part in the congress and vote in the elections.
World Boxing was launched in April 2023 to rival the International Boxing Association (IBA), formerly known as Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA). In June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) withdrew Olympic recognition of the IBA over allegations of unresolved finance, governance and ethical problems. World Boxing is seeking IOC recognition.
