XXL has opened its third store in Austria, in a space of nearly 5,000 square meters previously occupied by Sports Direct in the Donauzentrum, a big shopping center at Pasching, near Linz. The store employs 110 people. The big Norwegian sports retailer has also announced that it will soon be opening its first store in the Swedish city of Malmö, inside the Emporia shopping mall on the outskirts of the city. The Malmö store will total 4,000 square meters, but the exact date of the opening is not clear. It will be strategically positioned on the other side of the bridge that connects Malmö with Copenhagen, adding a physical presence to XXL's retail operations in Denmark, which are currently limited to a strongly marketed web store.
