Yanmar, a Japanese supplier of small and large engines, agricultural machinery and equipment, construction equipment, power systems, marine equipment, machine tools and components, has developed a new marine activity called Wheeebo. Users of the round board lean in the desired direction of travel – similar to using a hoverboard on dry land – and onboard sensors detect the change in weight distribution and turn on the board’s motor to propel it over the water.

The Wheeebo is expected to be used on lakes, beaches and other bodies of water with relatively calm surfaces. It is aimed at the entire family and will most likely appeal to a wide range of people, from late elementary school age to seniors. Marketing and operational testing will continue to get the unit up and running for next year’s peak season. More info at www.yanmar.com.
