YKK Corporation has increased the number of sites that have converted 100 percent of their electricity consumption to renewable energy by 20 sites from FY21 to FY22. This brings the total to 31 sites worldwide. As part of the YKK Sustainability Vision 2050, a set of sustainability goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, YKK is working to implement the 10 SDGs on the five topics of climate change, material resources, water resources, chemical management, and respect for people. On the issue of climate change, YKK is making efforts to reduce GHG emissions both within the company and in its supply chain in line with the SBTi-certified 1.5°C target, aiming for a 50 percent reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 and a 30 percent reduction in Scope 3 by 2030 (based on a 2018 baseline). As part of its actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, YKK is increasing the use of electricity from renewable sources at its production sites, primarily through the installation of solar panels. YKK will continue to work with local communities and customers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate efforts to achieve a sustainable society.
