Yonex is having a ball in the newly opened Chinese market with its badminton products. Sales in China led to a jump of 676 percent in the Japanese company's sales in the Asia region – outside Japan - to 4,174 million yen (€36.9m-$41.6m) in its first quarter, ended June 30. Japanese sales were flat at ¥9,833 million (€86.9m-$98.0m). Sales grew in Europe by 2 percent to ¥639 million (€5.7m-$6.4m), despite the weak euro and sterling. They fell by 5 percent to ¥469 million (€4.1m-$4.7m) in North America. Overall, Yonex booked a 31 percent rise in revenues to ¥15.3 billion (€135.3m-$152.6m) that led its net income to jump by 69 percent to ¥597 million (€5.3m-$6.0m).
