Zalando has joined Adidas, H&M and an investment arm of the Bestseller Group in a round of financing to help Infinited Fiber Company of Finland to build a facility for the commercial production of its biodegradable fiber, called Infinna. The company’s technology converts textile waste and other cellulose-based raw material into a regenerated textile fiber with the natural and soft look of cotton, eliminating any microplastics. Garments made with Infinna can be recycled indefinitely. Zalando, which has committed to extend the lifespan of at least 50 million fashion items, will provide raw materials for Infinited’s facility.
