Zumiez, the American action sports retailer whose holdings include Blue Tomato in Europe, continued to improve its results in the second quarter ended Aug. 4. Total revenues went up by 13.9 percent to $219.0 million, with a 6.3 percent increase on a comparable basis. Sales grew by 14 percent to $201.1 million in North America and at the same rate in Europe and Australia, reaching $17.9 million. Footwear and men's products led the growth, and Zumiez said it was aggressively looking for new brands to take up on its international platform. Product margins rose by 0.2 percentage points and the company ended the quarter with net income of $4.38 million against a loss of $608,000 in the year-ago period.
