A company set up by Bruce Lee’s family to handle the late martial arts icon’s merchandising and intellectual property rights is suing Adidas America and its affiliated companies for allegedly infringing on Lee’s core logo. Concord Moon is accusing Adidas of misusing Lee’s core logo, a dragon, on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar footwear and apparel, including a Kung-Fu hoody and T-shirts. The lawsuit was filed in early September in Indianapolis. According to Moon’s lawsuit, Lee developed the trademark image that became recognized worldwide in 1964, some eight years before writing, directing and starring in ‘Return of the Dragon.’ Lee died in July 1973 at the age of 32 of cerebral edema, caused by a reaction to a headache tablet.
