A group of Swiss-based investors has acquired Varlion, one of the major Spanish brands of pádel tennis. The production of its racquets will remain in the hands of Varlion's founder, Félix Regalía. The new owners have also set up two new companies, Ranelmo and CRG Sports, which will handle the distribution of Varlion's products in Europe and in Latin America, respectively. The new owners plan to set up a network of at least 200 pádel “pro shops” operating as concessions at sporting goods stores and pádel tennis clubs. According to CMD Sport, the new investors are Argentinian Swiss residents and Varlion has been going through financial difficulties in the past three years.
