A new Spanish firm, Help Snowboards, hit the market in October with a two-pronged strategy. First, it is aiming to keep prices low and quality high by eliminating retail distribution and selling direct to customers, exclusively through its website. Second, to deal with the issue of showrooming, where consumers try products out in stores before buying online, the company has opened a showroom of its own in downtown Barcelona. It also presents its products at key locations in Spain and Andorra during the winter so that potential customers can try them out. Part of Help's revenues are donated to the Play&Train foundation, a non-profit that helps the disabled take part in various sports, among them snowboarding.
