Abacus Sportswear, the Swedish brand of technical golf clothing, has introduced two new unlined golf jackets made with its stretch, waterproof fabric, StretchLite. In addition to the standard tests measuring the fabric's water resistance and breathability, Abacus says it has now introduced a new measurement for “freedom of motion,” the Coefficient of Stretch (CoS). Independently tested at the Textiles & Leather Laboratory in Stockholm, a 25cm strip of the company's Barton StretchLite fabric was expanded to 66cm, a factor of more than two-and-a-half, or a 2.64 coefficient of stretch (66/25=2.64). Abacus' new Pitch StretchLite also showed a high degree of elasticity, with a CoS of 1.90. Abacus Sportswear was among the first companies to introduce lightweight stretch waterproof fabrics in golf wear ten years ago.
