Abhishek Ganguly has been appointed managing director of Puma India and Puma South Asia, replacing Rajiv Mehta who has left the company, reportedly to pursue his own interests, particularly in the area of angel investing. Mehta, who is now 35, set up Puma's Indian operation in 2005 and, according to estimates, turned the Wild Cat into the second-largest sports brand in the country after Adidas, ahead of Nike. Ganguly has been associated with the operation since its inception, and he has been most recently in charge of sales and marketing. He worked previously for Reebok between 2002 and 2005.
