About 6,300 visitors attended Golf Europe and the simultaneous Fairway show in Munich from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. Considering that 6,061 people had registered for Golf Europe and 2,548 for Fairway last year, overall attendance was down. The organizers justified the drop with a change in the schedule to a Friday-Sunday event, due to the Ryder Cup, and to the elimination of a conference on golf teaching and coaching that had attracted more than 1,000 golf pros last year. The schedule will revert next year to a Sunday-Tuesday affair, but it will be held on Oct. 7-9, after the Oktoberfest beer festival. Lots of visitors came in last week from the UK, Austria, Italy and Eastern Europe, but few from Sweden, which is hosting its own golf show. The total number of exhibitors at Golf Europe declined to 301 from 314 a year ago, but an additional 91 showed their products and services at Fairway. New at the show were Bunker Mentality, a very young and progressive golf apparel brand from Britain, and Black Albatros, a fresh new French brand for elegant women designed by Céline Gauluteau, who previously designed baseball clothing and accessories for Blue Marlin in the USA
