About one year after its acquisition of Edelrid, the German ropes company, VauDe has decided to bundle all its climbing equipment under Edelrid. VauDe previously sold equipment under the Lucky and Markill brands, but from next year the Lucky brand will no longer be used. Due to its strong reputation Markill will be kept as a brand but it will be fully handled by Edelrid instead of VauDe – with the exception of Spain, where Markill will still be sold by Altitude, the Vaude distributor for the country. The VauDe brand will be used for all of the company’s textile-based products, from apparel to tents and backpacks. The company, which lifted its sales by about 10 percent last year, has spent about €1.5 million on the development of the footwear range and expects it to generate sales of about 35,000 pairs in its first year.
