Accell Group, the leading European bike producer based in the Netherlands, has appointed one of its senior executives, Uwe Kalliwoda, as president of Accell Asia. Based at Accell's office in Taiwan, he will seek to seize opportunities in the region in both procurement and sales. Accell markets for the moment only a few of its Ghost, Lapierre and Koga bikes in the top segment of the Asian market, with limited revenues, but the company feels that the demand for exclusive bicycles will increase there in the coming years. Kalliwoda is one of the founders of Ghost Bikes, a German subsidiary of Accell. As chief executive of Ghost, he has already done business in Asia for many years.
