Acting through a Spanish company called Dicaltex Internacional, the family of Francisco Borja has signed a long-term licensing deal for the development and sale of exclusive lines of Ellesse apparel and footwear in Spain and Portugal, starting with the spring/summer 2010 season. The Italian brand has been absent from the Spanish territory since 2005, when it ended a deal with a distributor. Back in the 1990s, Ellesse was licensed to Cidesport, the former Spanish Nike distributor that has been selling Speedo, another brand owned by Pentland Group, through a company called Sport Concept. As we have reported recently, the Borja family has taken on the distribution of Speedo in Spain as well, through another company. Sport Concept’s general manager, Daniel Rosal, has left the company, which is now led by Theo Prat.
