Adidas has won the Best Brands of the year award in the category “sports brands.” The award goes to companies in various categories such as “best company brand,” “best product brand,” “best brand in terms of growth” and others that are not tied to a certain industry. One prize, however, is devoted to a different selected industry every year. In 2013, it was the sports brands' turn: Behind Adidas, the lucky winners that made it into the top 10 ranking, are (in order of the ranking): Jack Wolfskin, Nike, Odlo, Puma, Lowa, Asics, Schöffel, Globetrotter and Reebok. The awards are not the result of a jury's decision, but are put out on the basis of the findings of a panel provided by GfK, the market research company. This year's winner in the category “best company brand” is Amazon, the online retailer.
