Adidas is launching in New York today the Energy Boost, a new lightweight running shoe with a midsole material made of thermoplastic beads that are fused together. The cushioning technology has been developed together with BASF, the large German chemical group. It is said to be providing more comfort as well as more energy return and more durability than conventional materials. The Energy Boost is expected to be available through e-commerce, at Adidas Performance stores and at selected retailers globally from next Feb. 27. It will be sold in Europe at a price of €150 per pair.
