Adidas is to close down the only manufacturing plant it still owns in China. Based in the coastal town of Suzhou, in the Jiangsu province, and employing 160 people, the apparel factory will be shuttered at the end of October. This is part of the company's permanent efforts to make its sourcing strategy more efficient. Adidas has more than 300 sourcing partners in China, but the country's rising labor costs have been encouraging suppliers to move their production to inland provinces or to other countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Laos.
