Adidas will take over from British sportswear brand Castore as kit manufacturer of Premier League team Aston Villa from the start of next season, as The Telegraph reported. In October, the club’s players had complained about Castore’s jerseys retaining sweat and affecting performance. The new agreement with Adidas, reportedly “long-term” and worth “multi-million pounds,” will involve Aston Villa’s men’s and women’s teams and the academy. Aston Villa is co-owned by Egyptian businessman Nassef Sawiris, who also owns around 7 percent of Adidas.
The partnership between Aston Villa and Castore debuted in the 2022/23 season as a multi-year deal, which will now reportedly end after two years. In March 2023, Castore entered into a multi-year agreement as the new kit manufacturer of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), the brand’s first with a national football team.
