After 18 years, Tomas Solin is leaving the role of chief executive at Salming Sports. The new CEO is Tomas Theil, which brings previous consumer brand experience from roles at Ikea and New Wave Sports. According to a press release issued by Salming Sports, the time has come for the Swedish company to enter a new phase with new management at the company. After establishing the company within a variety of segments, such as floorball, handball, running, squash and badminton, the focus is now on making the brand profitable. Salming Sport's sales growth has been good. They have from 92 million Swedish kronor in 2014 to SEK 141 million (€13.4m-$15.6m) in 2017. However, profits have not followed the same curve. After a profit of just over SEK 3 million in 2014, there were losses of roughly SEK 31 million (€2.9m-$3.4m) last year.
