After continued disappointing results, Amer Sports has decided to restructure further the golf division of Wilson Sporting Goods. A total of 70 employees will be laid off immediately as its golf ball manufacturing plant in Tennessee will be gradually downsized and more production outsourced in the Far East. The changes will cost approximately €4 million but they will bring in annualized savings of €9 million, starting in 2007. The division will be henceforth led by Tim Clarke, replacing the departed Angus Moir. Clarke is described as a golf industry veteran who has been with Wilson for nine years.
