After the end of the 2017/18 playing season, Umbro will replace Nike as the sponsor of the SV Werder Bremen team in the first division of the German Football League. The initial contract runs until the 2022/23 season. Nike had been the team's sponsor since 2009/10. Media reports indicate that the deal is worth about €17.5 million, or around one million euros more per year than what Nike has been paying. It was signed by the GLD Group, which has the Umbro license for the U.K., Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Benelux countries and Denmark.
